I always wanted to take my camera out to the parks and forests of Helsinki when the autumn trees were showing off their vivid colors. Sadly it only took one weeks of absence to transform the brilliant autumn trees which were competing with the sun in color, to transform into sad, leafless winter trees. The sun has set off to hibernation in a grey bed of clouds. We hardly get to see her anymore. Buying one of these daylight lamps doesn't sound like such a stupid idea anymore...The thing is it's not even winter. It's this weird bland transition period. During days like this it is nice to remember the past weeks, and since I haven't written anything about the cat cafe yet, although I previously promised, it seems like a good idea to do so now and create a distraction from this drab day.
I have to admit, I fell in love with this place. Nothing to make you feel warm and fuzzy like a bunch of purring cats. At least for me they never fail to lift my mood. What I also liked was that the cats had many possibilities to find a place to retreat, they were not at the mercy of needy customers but could make their own decision whether they wanted the company or not. It seems like cats don't only have a love for boxes, they also seem to share an interest for human bathrooms. Whenever I went to the restroom I had a furry follower. This reminded me of my Amy who always, even in the middle of the night, came out of nowhere to keep my company. She always went crazy on the bathroom floor tiles, rolling around and all. Anyways...beside the feline company the cafe also offers decent coffee and delicious cakes for Finnish prices. The only downside is that you have to pay a five euro care fee for every visit. On the other hand you might save yourself a therapy session and if you regard it that way, you actually save money ;). For me, cat lover that I am, it was experience I would not have wanted to miss.
